Brackley Means Business

The Best of Brackley

Why do I need my bin cleaned on a regular basis?

A clean and disinfected bin is an essential step in the fight against bacteria, germs and vermin. Research carried out by the SITA Centre of the University of Northampton confirms what many of us have feared may be the case with fortnightly collections - see Mail on Sunday article and Daily Mail article.

As we know, a dirty bin is a magnet for flies. Each fly has approximately 2 million bacteria on its body. The fly is therefore one of the greatest carriers of infectious diseases in the world today.

We have known for a long time that flies can spread bacteria, but the fact that they can spread campylobacter has recently been identified by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Campylobacter can cause the same unpleasantness as salmonella and only requires a very small quantity, for example, if a fly takes a short walk across your plate you can quickly end up in bed for a couple days.

Our service can help to prevent:

  • Bacterial and waste residue build-up
  • Possible cross contamination to the household, kitchen or workplace
  • Maggot, insect and pest infestation
  • Unpleasant smells and odours
  • Unsightly smears and stains on external surfaces

Who are FreshbiNNs?

FreshbiNNs is an independent business. We provide a continuous monthly wheelie bin cleaning service to homes in the South Northamptonshire Council area and the larger towns close by.

We also provide a commercial bin cleaning service (2 and 4 wheeled bins) over a larger area (see here)

Our aim is provide a professional, efficient and environmentally friendly service. We follow Environment Agency guidelines, using bio-degradable bags for any waste left in your bin and using only degradable cleansing agents. We filter and recycle the water used in the cleaning process, significantly reducing wastage to as little as one or two litres per clean. All remaining water is disposed of at the end of each day into the foul sewer with the written consent of Anglian Water.

We also offset the carbon emissions from our office and vehicle usage through Climate Care, further details can be found here.

What can FreshbiNNs do for me?

Cleaning your own bins can be awkward, unpleasant and possibly harmful.

FreshbiNNs use high pressure water jets on our custom equipped truck to remove stubborn residue from both the inside and outside of your bins.

After the council has emptied your bin we will:

  • Wash down the exterior of the bin using high pressure water and detergent
  • Thoroughly clean the inside of the bin using our purpose built equipment
  • Wipe down the inside of the bin to remove excess water
  • Spray the inside of the bin with a deodorising disinfectant
  • Return the bin to the desired location on your premises

We will visit your property on a regular basis - each bin is cleaned every 4 weeks, availability permitting.

The FreshbiNNs kit in action

We don't use plastic bin liners, which just create more unnecessary waste.

What will it cost?

Prices for domestic addresses start from as little as £3 per visit and can be purchased in batches of 3, 6 and 12 cleans. Full details can be found here.

Commercial prices start from £14 plus VAT for a single 4 wheel bin, with generous discounts available for multiple bins.
